Services Provided
The Spine Academy looks after all adults with spinal conditions, including neck, upper and lower back. We believe in careful assessment followed by individualised treatment plans for each patient.
As part of our approach, we regularly advise patients to avail of a Combined Appointment, so that our patient is clinically reviewed by both our spine surgeon and our clinical specialist physiotherapist.
We provide non-surgical treatments and specialist advice in most cases. We have links with most physiotherapists in Ireland and involve them in the suggested treatment plan.
We specialise in ultra-sound or radiographic guided spinal injections. These can reduce pain in the short-term to allow our patients to maximise their physiotherapy. In select cases, we can also provide epidural adhesiolysis for patients with persistent leg pain after surgery.
A small minority of our patients with severe conditions affecting their quality of life require surgery. Decisions regarding the care of our patients are best taken as a team approach, with agreement amongst all of the professionals looking after the patient and most importantly, the patient themselves.
Our surgical philosophy is minimally invasive surgery where possible, early mobilisation, short length of stay in the hospital, availability online and/or in clinic for follow up and routine engagement with physiotherapy.
